This is something I have grown to love, and you must try it. Back a few months I got an email to attend a meal swap in another town. When I really thought about it, I liked the idea, but wanted to stay close to home. I sent out an evite to a few friends around town that would be interested in a cooking club. We have had a few swaps so far, and there is great attendance and great meals! Everyone has been so creative and worked so hard to give everyone lots of freezer variety. The ones I did were ham and potato casserole, French toast casserole, and Greek chicken casserole. Next month I am hosting and doing ravioli with homemade vodka sauce and a dessert. Here is the info if you want to start one. We send it out to 12 ladies each time, mostly the same from past swaps, and do it 1 Sun each month at night.
Here is how it works: make a meal for each attendee with 3-4 servings per meal, purchase all the ingredients & servings for your recipe for # of meals needed, bring the prepared meals to the party to swap-ready for the freezer or fridge. Please bring your recipe/instructions with your meals if needed (per guest.) If you make a casserole for your recipe, please use oven baking containers. Bring a cooler to help haul your meals home. When you reply on evite you need to list what meal you will provide so we all get different meals. Feel free to pass the invite along. You need to reply by the Thurs before the swap so we can prepare our meals over the weekend and we will know how many to make.
This is what it looks like:
